Laser cutting techniques for steel plates

Cutting Parameter Optimization
Adjust laser power, focal position, and cutting speed according to the steel plate thickness:

Thin plates (≤3mm): High power (6000-12000W), short focal length (9mm), high speed (0.8-2.0m/min), use nitrogen gas protection to reduce oxidation.

Thick steel plates (>3mm): Reduce speed, increase gas pressure, and use oxygen cutting to improve efficiency.

Process Selection
Nitrogen cutting: Suitable for stainless steel and galvanized sheets; the cut surface is free of oxidation but requires rust prevention.
Oxygen cutting: Preferred for carbon steel; low cost but requires removal of oxide scale.

Troubleshooting Common Problems
Burrs: Check focal position, gas purity, and cutting speed.
Deformation: For thick steel plates, prioritize blast piercing; for thin plates, use pulse piercing.
