ASTM A572 grade 50 carbon steel H beams are made of high strength low alloy niobium vanadium structural steel with a yield strength of ≥345MPa (50ksi), a tensile strength of 450-600MPa, and an elongation of ≥18%. They are suitable for heavy-duty structures such as high-rise building core tubes and large factory building steel beams. Its carbon content is ≤0.23%, and niobium (Nb) 0.005-0.05% and vanadium (V) 0.01-0.15% are added to improve welding performance through fine grain strengthening (CEIIW≤0.45%).
A572 grade 50 steel is hot-rolled, and the thickness ratio of the flange to the web is optimized. For example, the moment of inertia of the W16×36 section is 448in⁴, which is more than 20% lighter than ordinary carbon steel, and is suitable for large-span lightweight design. The grain is refined to ASTM grade 8 through a controlled rolling process, and the impact energy at -20℃ is ≥27J, meeting the needs of cold-region projects.
ASTM A572 grade 50 H beam complies with the American standard A572/A572M-18, and its performance is comparable to the national standard Q355D. It is widely used in export steel structures, mining machinery frames and bridge main beams. Its phosphorus and sulfur contents are ≤0.04% and 0.05% respectively, supporting flame cutting and submerged arc welding, and improving processing efficiency by 30%.
