Cold rolling effects on titanium plate grain structure

Cold rolling significantly refines the grain size of titanium plates through plastic deformation, suppresses the dynamic recovery process, and forms a high-density dislocation and ultrafine-grained structure, while potentially triggering amorphization transformation.

During deformation, the α-phase elongates along the rolling direction, while the β-phase breaks down. This textural evolution leads to anisotropy, which in turn affects mechanical properties of the titanium plate.

Low-temperature rolling can further refine the grain size, and combined with annealing, it can optimize the microstructure and improve the strength and toughness of the titanium plate.‌
