A285 Gr C mild steel or A285 Gr C vessel steel

A285 Gr C steel is under technical standard ASTM A285/A285M, the specification for carbon steel plate, low-and-intermediate strength steel plate for pressure vessels. So A285 Gr C steel can be regarded both as A285 Gr C mild steel / A285 Gr C carbon steel or A285 Gr C vessel steel.

But there is a mistake need attention. Some call A285 Gr C steel to A285 Gr C mild steel, because they mistake A285 Gr C steel and A283 Gr C mild steel. Though   A285 Gr C steel and A283 Gr C mild steel have much in common, they are produced under different technical standard and have different performance under certain circumstances.

It is OK to regard A285 Gr C steel as A285 Gr C mild steel or A285 Gr C vessel steel, if only not to mistake A285 Gr C mild steel and A283 Gr C mild steel.
