5182 aluminum sheet (Mg content 4.0-5.0%) is the preferred choice for lightweighting new energy vehicle battery trays due to its high elongation (≥12%) and tensile strength (≥275 MPa). Its Al-Mg-Mn alloy system forms a dense oxide film, resistant to electrolyte corrosion, and its cold work hardening properties meet the structural strength requirements of the tray.
2. Process Compatibility
Using O- or H32-grade sheet, it is formed through laser cutting and argon arc welding, achieving a weld strength retention rate of ≥90%.
3. Application Advantages
It is 30% lighter than traditional steel, with a density of 2.68 g/cm³, improving battery life. Its thermal conductivity of 120-160 W/(m·K) enhances heat dissipation and meets the thermal management requirements of battery packs.
