42CrMo4 steel is chromium-molybdenum steel, and it is usually used after quenching and tempering. 42CrMo4 steel has high intensity and high hardenability. 42CrMo4 steel is applicable to induction hardening. The surface 42CrMo4 hardness will exceed min. 53 HRC.
For 42CrMo4 hardness, oil quenched & tempered hardness is 18-22 HRC. Annealing delivery hardenss is less than 250HB.
The chromium content provides good hardness penetration, and the molybdenum content ensures uniform 42CrMo4 hardness and high strength. 42CrMo4 steel can be oil hardened to a relatively high level of hardness.
