The quality of wear steel plate NM500

There are many impurities in the raw materials of wear steel plate NM500 mills. Although the steel mills try their best to remove them in the process of steelmaking, some substances will inevitably be mixed into the molten steel from the furnace wall, slag, atmosphere, etc. Therefore, the steel always contains Mn, Si, s, P and other impurities and gas (02, H2, etc.) non-metallic inclusions (silicate, a1302, etc.), which will inevitably affect the quality of the steel plate.

The main impurities in wear steel plate NM500 are Mn, Si, s, P and so on. Manganese and silicon are usually added to steel plate for deoxidation, which can improve the mechanical properties of steel plate, and manganese can also desulfurize, so they are beneficial elements.

Sulfur and phosphorus enter the steel with the raw materials of steelmaking. Sulfur and iron form compound FES, and FES and Fe form eutectic with low melting point. When steel is heated, it will crack due to eutectic melting, which is called "hot embrittlement". It is known as "cold brittleness" that the plasticity and toughness of steel decrease sharply when phosphorus dissolves in iron. Therefore, sulfur and phosphorus are harmful elements in wear steel plate NM500 and should be strictly limited.
