Comparison of use of 45Mn plates and 40Cr plates

The carbon content of 45Mn plates is 0.42%-0.50%. The strength, toughness and hardenability of 45Mn plates are all higher than that of 45# steel. The quenching and tempering treatment for 45Mn plates can obtain better comprehensive mechanical properties and good workability. But 45Mn plates are poor in weldability, and they are generally used to produce parts under heavy load and wear-resistant working conditions, such as crankshafts, spline shafts, shafts, connecting rods, universal joint shafts, automobile axle shafts, gears, clutch discs, bolts, nuts, etc.

After quenching and tempering, 40Cr plates are used to manufacture medium-speed and medium-load parts, such as machine tool gears, shafts, worms, spline shafts, and top sleeves. After frequency induction hardening, 40Cr plates are used to manufacture high-hardness and wear-resistant parts, such as gears, shafts, spindles, crankshafts, mandrels, sleeves, pins, connecting rods, screws, nuts, intake valves, etc.. After being quenched and tempered at medium temperature, 40Cr plates are used to manufacture heavy-duty, medium-speed impact parts, such as oil pump rotors, sliders, gears, main shafts, collars, etc.. After quenching and low-temperature tempering, 40Cr plates are used to manufacture heavy-duty, low-impact, wear-resistant parts, such as worms, spindles, shafts, collars, etc.
