ASTM A387 is a high-strength chromium-molybdenum alloy steel plate designed for high-temperature pressure vessels. Its grades range from Gr2 to Gr91. It achieves excellent high-temperature resistance and creep resistance through the alloy combination of chromium (0.5%-9%) and molybdenum (0.5%-1%). Typical applications include petrochemical hydrogenation reactors, power plant boilers and other equipment, and the long-term applicable temperature can reach 480-600℃.
ASTM A387 steel plate is divided into two categories according to the heat treatment state: CL1 (annealing/normalizing) and CL2 (normalizing + tempering). Among them, CL2 obtains higher strength through a more stringent heat treatment process, and the tensile strength generally reaches 515-690MPa. All steel plates must be ultrasonically tested to ensure that there are no internal defects, and the maximum thickness can reach 250mm.
The corresponding domestic grades such as 15CrMoR (Gr12), 12Cr2Mo1R (Gr22), etc., have significantly better hydrogen corrosion and oxidation resistance than carbon steel, and are particularly suitable for hydrogen environments. When welding, matching welding materials should be used and the interlayer temperature should be controlled to avoid cold cracks.
