The average annual capacity utilization rate of American steel industry is 80.1%

According to the weekly production data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the capacity utilization rate of the U.S. steel industry remained at 80.1% for the second consecutive week as of December 14.

As of December 14, the U.S. steel industry's steel production in 2019 was 92.6 million tons, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year (the same period last year's data was 90.9 million tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 78.2%).

At the same time, as of December 14, the steel production of the week was 1.84 million tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 79.7%. The year-on-year decline was 0.9% (the same period data was 1.86 million tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 79.4%).

By region, the total steel production for the week ending December 14, 2019 is divided into: 212000 tons in the northeast of the United States; 681000 tons in the Great Lakes region of the United States; 192000 tons in the Midwest of the United States; 669000 tons in the southern region of the United States; 90000 tons in the western region of the United States.
